This picture is of a lighthouse over 100 years in the making, and the new millennium has brought renewed life to it. If you are familiar with the lighthouse, you have known it as the rusty, deteriorating hulk of metal, an eyesore that formerly welcomed drivers traveling over the Jamestown Bridge, and vessels traveling near the bridge. She has a history that legends are made from, and her legend of her keeper John Ganze can be read on the history page.

Visit our Construction Page to see past and present photos of the lighthouse and it’s many phases of re-construction.

Support the Lighthouse, Purchase a License Plate!

The Friends are now offering the PBL Plate depicting our favorite lighthouse to owners with current RI passenger car registrations. The General Assembly passed a bill giving us the right to sell the plate as a fundraiser to help repaint the lighthouse. Please note the plates are for existing passenger registrations of 5 characters or less, and if you currently have a plate that meets this requirement, your current number goes on the plate. The plate charge is $41.50–$20 from each order goes to repainting and maintaining the lighthouse, and $21.50 goes to the state for the plate production.

To show your support please download the printable PDF, and send it to our snail-mail box at: PBL Plate, PO Box 1041, North Kingstown, RI 02852. Please visit the official plate website www.pblplate.org for more information.

The prints are $20 each and $5 for shipping and handling. If you’d like one of the prints, please download this order form.
